Fix error 0x3 and 0x5 when generating a wireless network report in Windows

Wireless networks represent a fundamental part of our connections today. The rise of mobile devices has made us increasingly connect to Wi-Fi networks. Sometimes we may be interested in generating a Wi-Fi history or a report of the wireless network from Windows 10. However, it may give us problems. Two of the most frequent mistakes, when we want to carry out this action, is that we throw the error 0x2 or 0x5. In this article, we will explain what we can do to solve it.

The importance of Wi-Fi networks today

Today as we have mentioned, we have more and more mobile devices connected to the Internet. We talk about the mobile phone itself, tablets, televisions and everything that is known as the Internet of Things. New equipment is constantly emerging with the ability to connect to the network wirelessly.

If we talk about a very popular operating system and that most users use when connecting from a desktop computer that is Windows. It allows us to generate a report of the wireless network. This way we can have more control over those networks.

Now, as can happen in many other areas, problems may arise. The most frequent are errors 0x2 and 0x5. In both cases, it appears when we are going to try to generate a Wi-Fi history or report of the wireless network from Windows 10.

How to fix error 0x2 or 0x5 in Windows 10

First of all, we must mention that we can implement two simple steps. One of them simply consists in having our router or modem updated correctly, as well as the computer drivers. Sometimes it can generate problems of this type caused by outdated drivers and some problem with some previous update.

We can also use the Windows troubleshooter. This allows us to solve certain network-related failures that may occur in the Microsoft operating system.

These are two previous steps that we can carry out whenever we encounter the error 0x2 or 0x5. Normally, users have already made these checks, so we will move on to other options we have to solve both faults.

Fix error 0x2 when creating a wireless network report

When creating a wireless network report, we can receive a message that shows us an error. It indicates that it is not possible and generates a report showing the error 0x2 that we mentioned.

As we know, to create a report we can do it through the netsh wlan show wlanreport command. To solve this situation, an option that arises is to execute these two alternative commands:

  • netsh wlan show networks
  • netsh wlan show interfaces

Once these two commands have been executed, we can re-execute netsh wlan show wlanreport and check if it no longer shows us that error 0x2.

Fix error 0x5 when creating a wireless network report

Another error that may appear when generating a wireless network report is 0x5. As in the previous case, it would not allow us to obtain what we are looking for. We can also carry out different actions to solve it.

The first thing we have to do is start the Command Prompt as an administrator and execute the chkdsk C: / f command. Some users have reported that when they have rerun the netsh wlan show wlanreport command it has worked correctly.

In short, whenever the error 0x2 or 0x5 appears when we are going to execute the netsh wlan show wlanreport command to generate a report of the wireless network and a problem appears, we can put into practice what we have mentioned. So we can try to solve the error and generate that report correctly.
